5 Gift Ideas for the Active Kid

Happy Children Exercising And Jumping Over White
The holidays are just around the corner, so now is a great time to start planning for your child’s “surprises”.  One option is to visit the toy aisle at your local store.  OR you could give them a gift that keeps them moving and that they’ll stay interested in beyond those first days after opening their presents.  Here are a few ideas if you’re looking for the perfect gift for the active child in your life:
Novelty Activities
Trampoline parks, skating rinks, climbing walls, adventure centers – the family-friendly options out there are numerous.  Sometimes cost and frequency can be prohibitive.  A budget-friendly solution would be a gift card that the recipient can use any time throughout the year and likely covers at least a few visits.
Wheel Around Town
Bikes are a classic holiday gift!  If your youngster already has a bike, consider investing in a tandem bike, depending on their age, or keep it retro with some roller skates, a scooter, or maybe even a skateboard – all things your child is sure to love!  Extend the gift by enhancing it with a pass to a local skate park.

Sports Gear
If your child is into athletics, there’s no doubt that their hobby comes with gear – whether it’s specialty shoes, balls, leotards, or training equipment.  Ideas such a rebounders for the soccer player, golf or football targets, new dive toys for the pool, or their own practice beam are things they might really enjoy.
Activity-based Toys
Because no tree is complete without a few toy store surprises, consider basics like hula hoops, pogo sticks, stomp rockets, bug catching-kits, and kites.  These all make for fun, active play and use limited storage space.
Yard Games
Being active doesn’t need to be contained to just athletics or sports training – it’s a lifestyle! And, what better way to teach your kids than by making it a family affair!   Consider investing in yard games in which the whole family can participate.  Croquet,  bag tosses, or outside bowling come to mind.  But, there also are games suited to younger players – check out Farkle, yard dice games like giant Yahtzee and the proverbial favorite “Twister”!
